How does BLEACH Mirrors High actually play? Short answer: the July 18 overview trailer finally spelled out the basics, and everything deeper is still guesswork. This page splits the confirmed facts from the rumors, with the closed beta running right now and beta-verified breakdowns landing as testers’ footage confirms things.
Officially confirmed
- The genre tag: “Immersive 13 Court Guard Squads Action.” The whole pitch is living as a Soul Reaper inside the Gotei 13.
- The combat loop, per the July 18 overview trailer: you build a team of three and pick Action Cards to chain attacks, building toward big finishers called Mortal Blows and coordinated “Soul Drive” team attacks.
- Avatar customization: the official wording is that you “change your Zanpakuto’s appearance and fighting style as you like.”
- Two protagonists: you pick Shirin or Shirane and play through an original story set in Karakura Town, after the Thousand-Year Blood War.
- What the trailers show: real-time action sequences with Ichigo, Rukia, Renji, Byakuya, Hitsugaya, and Urahara. Just remember trailers are cinematic direction, not gameplay proof, but they lean into action combat framing every single time.
- Free-to-play with in-game purchases. There’s a premium currency you can buy, which we can tell because the beta agreement includes a “no purchases during the test” clause.
Circulating but NOT confirmed
- “It’s a turn-based RPG.” The overview trailer’s real-time Action Card combat makes that one look very unlikely.
- “It’s an arena fighter.” Still guesswork, and notice it flat-out contradicts the turn-based claim, which tells you exactly how much either rumor was worth.
- “It’s a gacha game with banners and pity” (pity being the guaranteed top drop after enough pulls). Plausible for this kind of game, sure, but no summon system has been announced at all.
- “The anime cast returns.” So far only the five new characters’ voice actors have been announced; none of the returning cast is confirmed.
When we’ll actually know
The Closed Beta Test (July 23 to 30 JST) is the first real look we get. Testers are allowed to share screenshots and video, so once it’s live this page will break down combat, progression, and monetization based on what actually turns up in the build. All of it gets labeled as beta data, since the test version is only a slice of the final game.
